Read an Excerpt:

“Miss Ahuja? Naina?”

The almost soundless whisper had Naina’s eyes snapping open in the dark. A hard hand came up to cover her mouth even as a terrified squeak left her lips. A pair of dark, intense eyes in a face streaked with camouflage paint floated into her vision. “I’m here to rescue you. Your father sent me. I need you to stay completely silent when I remove my hand. Can you nod if you understand?”

Keeping her eyes on his strong, reassuring ones, Naina nodded quickly. The stranger waited to make sure she wouldn’t scream, and slowly lifted his hand from her mouth. Slipping a knife out from seemingly nowhere, he cut the rope binding both her hands and feet within seconds and levered her up from her prone position. Helping her to her feet, he watched intently to see if she was steady on her feet. Reassured that she wasn’t going to faint at his feet, Arjun moved quickly to the door and looked out. The guards were still unconscious from the light taps to the back of their heads administered by his teammates, and so far there was no sign of any other movement in the camp. Coming back into the room, he put his lips close to her ear to whisper, “Can you walk?”

Nodding mutely, Naina craned her neck to get a glimpse of his face from this angle. The stranger was so tall that he towered over her by almost a foot. Dressed all in black, with a mini arsenal strapped on to him, he looked like he’d arrived straight from hell. Apparently, the devil was her hero tonight.

Buy from Amazon

Read an Excerpt:

Despite his vanishing act, it was Aman who came to Madhuri’s rescue when she most needed it. He stood by her in the darkest hours of her life and provided the much-needed support when she decided to go against her family and marry Viraj.
In the months that followed her marriage to Viraj, Madhuri missed Aman a lot. He had gone back to remaining elusive from her life. When Aman called up almost six months later, she almost jumped to the roof with joy.
“Wow! So finally Saint Aman Sehgal is getting hitched too.”
Madhuri missed his wedding. Everyone among his relatives and family friends knew her. Moreover, her family would be there too and she couldn’t possibly add to the disgrace that she had already caused everyone. Madhuri saw the wedding pictures on Sreeja’s social media profile. As much as she wished to, she couldn’t dodge the jealousy she felt when she saw another woman standing on the dais with Aman. For days she fought with the distress before deciding to shift her focus back on her marriage.
But strangely, despite her jealousy, she was devastated when she heard that Sreeja had left Aman.
Actually, Madhuri and Sreeja had never warmed up to each other. While Madhuri continued to talk to Aman once in a while, she once tried to figure things out with Aman but was assured that Sreeja was just taking her time settling down.
“At the risk of sounding archaic, I must advise you to keep your distance from Aman and Sreeja. Not all spouses will be too accepting of their partner’s friendship with somebody from the opposite gender. Especially the kind shared by two of you.” Viraj cautioned her once.
The connotation of jealousy in his tone startled Madhuri for a second, but she dismissed his concern as absurd.
In the meantime, a couple of months after Sreeja left Aman shifted to Mumbai for work. Like a devout friend, Madhuri tried to play cupid and set him up for dates with her work friends and other interested ladies from his dating profile, which was created by her only. Even today, Madhuri winced at the memory of her Friday coffee outing with Aman a day after exactly second such blind date.
“What happened, you look quite spent? I guess yesterday’s date has done you some good,” she teased him. They were walking down the Nariman Point promenade.
Aman ran a restless hand to smoothen his hair and pinned her down with his blazing eyes.
“Let me get this straight, Mads, you are not to set me up for any dates from now on.”
“But…”
“If you do it, I promise you that I will never ever meet you again.”
That sent her heart diving down to her guts. But she was still not sure why Aman was upset. “I am sorry.”  She felt like a slouch. “Aman, I understand that you are hurting. But you need to heal the scars from the past. A new bond and you too will be as good as new.” Aman fisted his hands and raised it to hammer it into something, but controlled himself. Madhuri was terrified of his raging eyes while his mouth twisted awkwardly.
“Listen to me, Mads. Don’t mess with my life. Just make sure to not set me up for any of these silly dates in the future.”
Madhuri was taken aback by the maniac picture that Aman painted in that moment. She recovered quickly and made a long face, her eyes digging the floor for non-existent gold.
“Hey, Mads, I am sorry. It’s just that… I get extremely awkward at such dates. It’s not meant for me yaar.”
She nodded in partial understanding.
“I said I am sorry. I will not do it.”

She raised her hands in the air in a gesture making peace and then hugged him. She categorically waited for him to hug her back, but he stood there like a statue. She immediately felt deprived of his warmth and affection. If Madhuri were to make a confession - IT HURT.

#CoverReveal :: The Mahāsiddha Field by @DwaiLahiri

~ Cover Reveal ~
The Mahāsiddha Field
by Dwai Lahiri

About the Book:
Cover Design by Merril Anil
The world of Asuras and Dévas is considered mythological. Indian mythology is replete with tales of Dévas battling the Asuras constantly. The interesting thing to note is that whether it is a God or an incarnation of a deity in human form, aka an Avatār, there was also a human element involved in these stories. The teachers of the Dévas (gods) and the Asuras were human sages, known as Rishis.

Find out what happens when seemingly unconnected individuals get drawn into a world of suspense and action, as mythology collides with their world in the book 'The Mahāsiddha Field', the first in a new sci-fi/fantasy series!

An elderly wandering mendicant in South India, two young Indian-American men, two soldiers from the Indian Army and a mysterious sage from high up in the Himalayas are thrown together in an adventure unlike any other; as a most unlikely adversary leaps out of the world of Indian Mythology to challenge their beliefs, their sanity and their courage.

About the Author:
I was born and raised in the city of Durban, one of the sunniest places of South Africa, where I live with my husband and three kids. However, home away from home is the magnificent Cape Town, a serene laidback city where the heart and spirit of the ancient Table Mountain beckons one to return again and again.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Law degree, cum laude and went on to study psychology thereafter, both careers which held my avid interest. However, my greatest passion was always in writing, something I have been doing for as long as I can recall. So, it’s no wonder that I finally surrendered all else to become a professional writer.

I have previously written middle grade fiction as well as illustrated books for little children. The Sands of Time series is my first venture for young adults, a project that I have been arduously researching and working on for several years. If there’s a single belief I live by, it would be this:

Masterpieces are not created overnight. All that is truly remarkable requires a magical moment of growth.

Book Trailer:

About the Author:

For the mortal world, I pretend to be a Software Engineer who works hard (or hardly?) in the hours of a day. I am the guy next door, a hard core Harry Potter fan and a movie buff. I literally ‘live’ every movie, I have strong opinions about its content and I hate it when a movie based on an interesting concept is messed up for the sake of commercial value. I enjoy watching cartoon shows (doremon, dora and Choota Bheem) with my son. I never get bored of listen to the endless chatter of my wife. When I’m not writing, I make toys for children.
But beyond the boundaries of this ‘cholesterol rich’ coil, I am a rider of rapturous thoughts. I am a thinker, a philosopher, a seeker, a story-teller, a writer, a wanderer and every other thing that a thought can be. At times some of these figments fire out of my thoughtful bowl and command me to write, muse, create, recreate, destroy…EXPRESS!
Who Am I? I have been asking this question to myself since 33 years, and I got a different answer always. Sometimes I get confused and think, am I asking the right question to seek the correct answer? or may be that am I missing the  whole fantastic universal drama around me while I am busy finding an answer to an irrelevant question?
Does the answer even matter?

Read an Excerpt:

The noise on the road was deafening with cars honking and people shouting. Photographers and reporters jostled for space behind the police barricade, everyone vying for juicy titbits of the breaking news of the night. The cops, blinded by flashlights, were having a tough time managing the crowd. The drizzle did not help. There was frenzied clicking of all kinds of cameras, from the long-nosed ones of press photographers to the mobile cameras of curious onlookers. They stopped on their way and clicked away everything they laid their eyes on– the police vans, the unruly crowd on the street, the thirty-storeyed Prestige Apartments in Bandra; one of the plushest addresses in Mumbai, its entrance presently sealed off.

The television channels had already broken the news. The road was packed with vans with satellite dishes on their roofs, as journalists spoke animatedly into cameras, conjuring up all kinds of speculations. Death and the myriad possibilities around it always meant good business for news channels.

“...he was found inside his penthouse apartment, his wrist slashed...”
“...we don’t know yet if he was alone when he died...”
“...forensic experts are inside his apartment...”

Vikram Oberoi, Vice President and Head of India Operations of NexGen Technologies, had been found dead inside his penthouse in the topmost floor of Prestige Apartments earlier that evening. The police had broken in and had found him in the living room, sprawled on the sofa, his wrist slashed, and the volume of the television inside the room turned up. An empty glass of whiskey and a bottle more than half empty were in front of him. The kitchen knife with blood all over its blade had been found lying on the carpet.
